Selling Basics
Selling an item is a simple process at Vizino. You can go directly to the Sellers page by clicking the Sellers link on the top navigation bar that appears on every page of the site. This will give you brief information for selling your item. We will give you more detailed information below for selling your item: You must be a registed user to sell an item at Vizino. Please follow this link Register if you have not already registered.


What are the Fees/Costs involved in Selling an item?
To celebrate the launch of Vizino we have decided to waive all insertions fees for the time being. There will also be no commission fee charged on successful sales. Vizino will provide advanced notice on when the fees will changed and what the fee structure will be.


Can You explain all the options in the Sell Item page?
Yes. Here are are the options that are available when you go to the Sell Item page.
  • Username:
    This is the username that you selected when you registered at Vizino.

  • Password:
    Enter your password. If you have lost your password you can follow this link "lost password".

  • Title:
    Select a title for your item. Try selecting a brief title that fits the item you are listing. A good title will provide the buyer and easy way to distinguish your product from the other listings. The title should be short as you may provide a more detailed description in description field. The title may not contain HTML code.

  • Quantity:
    Quanitity is the number of items you have available for sale. This should normally be 1 all auctions except "Dutch Auctions".

  • Auction Type:
    Select the type of auction you wish to conduct. Vizino provides many different ways to auction your product. For more information follow the link "auction types"

  • Item Description:
    This is the place where you will provide the most information about your item. Descirptions can include HTML as well as pictures. For more information about ways to jazz up your listing follow this link "HTML/Pictures"

  • Description Language:
    Select the Languages used in your description.

  • Location:
    Location is where you will be shipping your item from. This will give buyers more information as where your product comes from. The buyer will also know whether international shipping will be an issue.

  • Country:
    This is where you enter the Country where you are located.

  • Start Date/Time:
    Select the date you want to start your auction. Try not to set a start date that is in the past as this will cut into your auction duration.

  • Duration:
    The duration box is where you will select how long you want your auction to run. Adding the duration to your start time will indicate when your auction will close.

  • Categories:
    Select the category that is most appropriate for your item. This will help narrow down specific buyers for your item. Many buyers will also perform searches which will also bring attention to your listing.

  • Picture URL:
    This will allow you to post a picture in your item listing. The URL(web address where picture is located) must point to a web page somewhere on the internet. There are many sites that allow free image hosting such as PhotoPoint, Auctionwatch and Honesty.com. Once they provide you a place to host your image you can enter the url into this field.

  • Sound URL:

  • Accepted Payment:
    Please select the method of payment that you will require for the buyer. You may select multiple options or also include the payment preference in your Description field.

  • Shipping Method:
    Please select the shipping method that you will require for the buyer. You may select multiple options or also include the shipping preference in your Description field.

  • Minimum Bid:
    This is the minimum bid that you would like set for a buyer to enter into the auction. If you would like you can also set a reserve price which will provide a safe-guard on how much you want the item to sell for.

  • Reserve Bid:
    The Reserve Bid is the lowest price at which the Seller would like to sell the item. In order to win the auction, a Bidder must meet or exceed the reserve price and have the highest bid. The reserve price is kept secret until the close of the auction. If there are no Bidders that meet or exceed the reserve price the Buyer and Seller are not obligated to complete any transactions

  • Bid Increment:
    The Bid Increment is the amount by which a bid is raised to create the Minimum Bid for the next Bidder. There are several bid increment defaults available to choose from. Choose the one that is most appropriate to the Minmum bid you have selected.

  • Dynamic Bid:
    Dynamic Bid Time can be set by the seller when posting his or her auction. dynamic Bidding allows for bidding to continue beyond the normal end of the auction if certain events occur. When you set a value for Dynamic Bid Time this sets a watch for bids on the auction from that many minutes before the end of the auction. If anyone places a bid during the Dynamic Bid window, which is measured in minutes, then the end of the auction will be extended by the length of time of the Dymnamic Bid setting.

  • Feature Item:
    The Featured Items are given more exposure to customers through a number of ways. - They are randomly selected to appear at the main Vizino page. - They appear in the featured auction section - They appear in the featured auction section in each category list. - The featured auctions also appear within the regular category selected

  • Private Auction:
    Private Auctions are normally not used in the regular auction process. This type of auction will protect the identity of the bidders who bid on the auction listing. Identities are kept private until the close of the auction.



Will I be notified when auction ends?
As a Seller, when your auction closes you will be sent an Email notification indicating the closing status. If there were no bids or the bids that were placed did not meet or exceed your reserve price you may relist the auction.


What if the item sells?
If there was a winning bid on your item you will be given the winning Bidder's contact information. Remember that they are under contract to pay you (Binding Contract) the amount of their bid. You are then under contract to make sure they receive the item or any services listed. All contacts are usually made within 3 days after close of auction. If the high bidder backs out of the auction you may sell your item to the next highest bidder. Be sure to give enough time for contact to the top bidder before moving down the bidding list.


What if the item doesn't sell?
We sure hope that your items sells but in the case your item does not sell you can relist the item for auction. The relist option is located in the mySILK section. Once you log in you will be given an option to relist the auction. You can also make modifications to the listing before you place it back online.


How do I contact the buyer?
You can contact any user on Vizino through the SILKmail system. Another method of contact can be direct email. The contact information will be given to at auction close and should also be provided on your auction listing.


What if the High bidder backs out?
If the high bidder backs out of the auction you may sell your item to the next highest bidder. Be sure to give enough time for contact to the top bidder before moving down the bidding list. Seven days should be a long enough time frame for contact between buyers and sellers.


Can I edit my listing?
You can edit your listing anytime during the auction process. Access to auction edit can be found in the mySILK section. Once you log in you will be given an option to edit your auction. Select the item you wish to edit from the list shown. The editable fields will be available. Certain options such as Minimum Bid, Auction Type, Auction Duration, and Auction Start Time cannot be modified.


What is a featured auction?
The Featured Items are given more exposure to customers through a number of ways.
  • They are randomly selected to appear at the main Vizino page.
  • They appear in the featured auction section.
  • They appear in the featured auction section in each category list.
  • The featured auctions also appear within the regular category selected
There is currently no charge to feature your auction. This will change once the Vizino promotion phase has ended.


What is a private auction?
Private Auctions are normally not used in the regular auction process. This type of auction will protect the identity of the bidders who bid on the auction listing. Identities are kept private until the close of the auction.


How do I jazz up my listings with HTML?
HTML can be very useful for adding more depth to your item description. You might want to consider learning basic HTML. There are many resources on the web that describe basic HTML writing. You can also try an HTML editor like Netscape Composer or Microsoft Frontpage. Simply paste the HTML source code into the description field on the Sell Item page.


Can I add a counter to my listing?
Yes. There are a number of sites available that offer free image counter services such as honesty.com, counter.com and Auctionwatch. For now we support a generic counter.
