For Max Azria, the inspiration for the Fall 2000 BCBG collection was Wim Wender's 1987 film Wings of Desire. Wing motifs appear on the back of heather grey wool jackets and black t-shirts. Average people milled about the back of the runway, while "Ave Maria" and other religious music played throughout the show. More subtle references to wings can be seen in the embroidered chiffon tops with ties falling to the floor, mud-fur jackets and a color palette based on rich tones of pewter, porcelain, moss, russet, gold, camel, cognac and sable. Fabrics for Fall include the dramatic textures of felt, silk charmeuse, wool, tulle, suede, silk chiffon and cashmere. Color plays a stronger role in designs like shiny croc-like coats, glitter suede jackets and easy plaid coats and pants, and details such as Tibetan lamb trim, feathers, paillettes, patchwork and brocade add rich interest. A moss patent croco short jacket is worn over a silk charmeuse twilight printed tie camisole; a black mud fur coat tops a black tulle beaded shell and black wool Donegal scrunch trouser accessorized with a black bag with leather paillttes and gold leather tall stiletto boot; a camel silk/cotton trench coat with wings is worn over moss wool/cashmere plaid scrunch trousers; a cameo tulle wool re-embroidered top goes over a platinum glitter suede panel skirt; a porcelain mud fur coat is worn over a porcelain silk charmeuse tie camisole and cameo tulle mohair re-embroidered pant. Accessories like faux-mink wraps, fake fur and feather-covered bags and high boots in distressed metallic leather add a playful touch.

Pamela Dennis
Pamela Dennis has become known for her classic yet eye-catching evening wear. For Fall 2000, black leather plays a key role appearing in slim skirts and trousers that are paired with limestone gauze shirts and beaded camisoles. Dennis's color palette includes tones of black, graphite, limestone and burnished gold. Fabrics are crinkled organza, wool, gauze, gazar, silk chiffon and angora with touches of sheared rabbit, bugle beading and patent leather. Graphite lame organza ball skirts, crinkled skirts, stretch wool cocktail dresses and gazar asymmetrical gowns round out the collection.

Cynthia Rowley
Cynthia Rowley's Fall 2000 collection is inspired by young, beautiful "it" girls and their lifestyle. Her flirty energetic designs are cut close to the body giving feminine prints a strong edge. Striped leather pants, chiffon tops, faux gator blazers and wool pants are easy-going city looks. Knits, plaids and crocodile are used in beaded dresses and coats. There are leather-fronted sweaters and leather turtlenecks, a beaded alligator dress over a plaud body suit and chocolate velveteen pants. Angora tutlenecks and mohair skirts are done in warm shades of red and gold. A-night-on-the-town look predominates the evening ensembles of short dresses in optical prints, and glittery brocaded outfits. These are chic, urban silhouettes, yet eminently wearable.

Vera Wang
Vera Wang is best known for her sumptuous wedding gowns, but is quickly establishing a reputation as a designer of beautifully crafted ready-to-wear clothing. For Fall 2000, classic, elegant pieces are done in rich materials and tailored with precision. For day, black crocodile coats, gabardine pleated skirts, cashmere sweaters and stretch tweed suits are combined in appealing ensembles. For evening, chiffon halters, square sequin gowns, cashmere robes and neon-colored scarf dresses dazzle. The highlight of Wang's Fall 2000 collection is her use of luxurious crocodile-embossed leather in halters, bustiers and coats.

Donna Karan's signature black dominates her DKNY Fall 2000 women's collection. The silhouette for Fall is fitted but not tight, with narrow shoulders and full A-line skirts lending a decidedly feminine tone. Sleek suits are done in black wool/mohair, tweed and leather and worn with cashmere sweaters, silk chiffon blouses and mink cashmere turtleneck shells. For evening, stretchy v-neck, turtleneck, backless or halter dresses in leather, lacquer and liquid satin are done in tones of magenta, blood, maple, and caper and spiced up with leather trim. Coats appear in leather, double-faced wool or oversized herringbone. Splashes of colors like peacock, aubergine, violet, cinnamon and raspberry add punch, along with details such as beading and sequins in the sexy evening looks.
